CINCINNATI — Cincinnati fifth-year punter Max Fletcher has been named to the Ray Guy Award midseason watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Thursday.
Through nine games this season, the Melbourne, Australia native has punted 27 times for 1,236 yards and is averaging 45.8 yards per attempt. Fletcher has placed 11 of his 27 punts inside the 20 this year and has seven kicks of at least 50 yards.
Fletcher’s career average as a Bearcat is 45.50, which would rank first all-time in school history ahead of UC Athletics Hall of Famer Kevin Huber (45.47).
In 2025, Fletcher teamed up with Save the Animals Foundation, where he donated $20 for every punt he downs inside the 20-yard line. This season he has donated $220 for his 11 inside the 20 punts.
He has twice been named to Ray Guy Award Ray’s 8 list this season after Week 1 and Week 7.
Fletcher joins a field of 63 punters in the nation on the list.
The Ray Guy Award Committee will determine the ten semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award. The semifinalists will be revealed on November 13. Three finalists will be selected by a national voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision sports information directors, media representatives, and previous Ray Guy Award winners. After the finalists are announced, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation’s top punter. The winner of the Ray Guy Award will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 11.
About the Ray Guy Award
The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner are net punting average, percentage of punts inside the 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned, with particular emphasis placed on net average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline, and have a positive impact on the team's success.
