- Launched his coaching career in the NFL with Pittsburgh and served at Green Bay; was offensive coordinator for the 1961 NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles and defensive coordinator for the 1964 NFL champion Cleveland Browns.
- Served as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles (three years) and Cleveland Browns (four years).
- Was Assistant Supervisor of Officials for the NFL.
- UC Athletic Hall of Fame 1977.
