POSTSEASON BASKETBALL IS COMING TO FIFTH THIRD ARENA
Postseason basketball is coming to Fifth Third Arena! The University of Cincinnati men's and women's basketball programs have been selected as hosts for their respective postseason tournaments.The men's team will make its 46th postseason appearance when it hosts San Francisco to open the NIT, Wednesday at 9 p.m. on ESPN+. The Bearcats, who earned their 41st 20-win season, have made the postseason 12 times in the last 14 opportunities (excluding 2020 with COVID). Wednesday's winner will play the victor of Bradley and Loyola Chicago. First round games are Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by second round games on Saturday and Sunday. The quarterfinal games are March 26-27, with the Final Four in Indianapolis running April 2-4. For the full men's release, click here.
The women's team is making its 14th postseason appearance and first since its WNIT quarterfinal run in 2019. The Bearcats will be playing in the WNIT for the ninth time and hold a 5-8 all-time record. Cincinnati received a first-round bye in the WNIT and will host Purdue Fort Wayne in the second round on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. The Super 16 is scheduled for March 27-29. LUKOSIUS HITS GAME-WINNER TO LIFT BEARCATS TO OT WIN IN NIT
Cincinnati trailed by 2 with four seconds left in overtime when Lukosius took a hand-off from senior center Aziz Bandaogo and drilled the game-winning corner triple to lift the Bearcats to a 73-72 victory over San Francisco in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at Fifth Third Arena.
