Points are not active until a qualifying UCATS gift is made within the current drive year. *Rank determined by Giving Level followed by Point Total.FAQS
Q: Why is the priority points structure changing?
A: Fans have indicated that the new red & black point system was overly complicated and needed a refresh. The original intent of the two-point system was in reaction to the tax law change. Since the law has no been in effect for a few years, we felt that the opportunity to return to a singular set of points was available and needed.
Q: What are the changes to the priority points structure?
A: In the new structure, priority points will continue to accrue based on donations, affinity to the University of Cincinnati and season ticket purchases.
Q: What happens to my old points?
A: The points you have earned on an annual basis have been “frozen” and it becomes the base for your points moving forward. Only new points that you earn will be added to your “banked” total.
Q: How do I earn points now?
A: You can earn points through the following ways:
- 5 points: per $100 for Next Level Success & UCATS General Scholarship
- 5 points: per active years UCATS giving
- 2 points: for being a season ticket (per ticketed sport, 2 pts per sport max per year)
- 20 points: UC graduate (max of 20 points per account)
- 1 point: per $500 donated outside of Athletics
- 20 points: Planned Gift - Herman Schneider Society Member (Athletics only)
- 20 points: Former Student-Athlete (max of 20 points per account)
- 5 points: UC Faculty/Staff (max of 5 points per account)
- 1 point: per $100 pledged to future drive year
- 5 bonus points: per $100 to any non-priority fund or annual fund during the duration of the Day One Ready campaign.
Q: What is a Drive Year?
A: A Drive Year is equivalent to a calendar year (i.e. the 2021 Drive Year runs January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021)
Q: Will I still receive a charitable deduction for donations made to the UC Athletics?
A: Donations made to any fund that is not a priority-seating fund (Endowment, Annual Fund, specific sport program, or Capital Project) are 100% deductible.
Q: When does the new priority points structure go into effect?
A: The new priority points structure is currently in place, starting October 18, 2021.
Q: How will the new priority points structure affect my UCATS rank?
A: When utilizing your rank, UCATS will rank you by your UCATS giving level first and then your priority points within your respective giving level.
Q: How do I determine my UCATS giving level?
Your UCATS giving level is determined by the total of all pledges made to UCATS in a Drive Year, regardless of allocation.
Q: I am a new donor, where will I rank?
A: If you are a new donor, UCATS will use your current giving level and priority point total and rank you accordingly.
Q: How can I maximize my UCATS Priority Points Rank?
A: By supporting at the highest UCATS giving level philanthropically. Additionally, you can also increase your UCATS Priority Points total by supporting UCATS above and beyond minimum seating requirements. You will receive an even greater impact by supporting the UCATS General Scholarship Fund or Next Level Success Fund annually.
Q: What will you use my points for?
A: Your points will be used for ranking seat selections and purchases in University of Cincinnati on-campus venues (i.e. season ticket upgrades, reseating at Nippert Stadium or Fifth Third Arena, single game purchases, etc.). Additionally, they will be used for ranking ticket purchases at off-campus venues (i.e. away games, NCAA Tournament and Bowl Games). These points will also be used to rank for parking garage allocation for Football and Men’s Basketball.
Q: Can I transfer my priority points?
A: Priority points may only be transferred to next of kin (son or daughter), one time only. The UC Department of Athletics must approve the transfer of points and reserves the right to deny any point transfer.
Q: Can I share my priority points with another UCATS member?
A: No, you may not share any priority points you have accrued with another UCATS member, effective January 1, 2019.
Q: Will I earn priority points for myself if I donate on another UCATS member’s account?
A: No, all payments made on a UCATS member’s account will accrue priority points for him/her. You will not receive any UCATS credit, and this is not reversible.
