Perry Young Season 2017

2019
• First-Team All-American Athletic Conference.
• Team captain.
• Played in the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl.
• Returned to the lineup after missing part of 2018 with a torn ACL, capping a remarkable comeback season by earning First-Team All-AAC honors for the second year in-a-row. 
• Started all 14 games at linebacker and was third on the team with 81 tackles, including 8.5 tackles for a loss, five QB hurries, six passes defended and a sack. 
• Had two interceptions on the season, including one returned for a TD in the waning moments of a win at Houston.
• Closed out his UC career playing in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama against Boston College in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl.

2018
• Earned First-Team All-AAC honors despite only playing eight games. 
• One of the leaders of UC’s defense, he totaled 45 tackles, but missed the final four games of the season due to a torn ACL suffered against Navy. 
• Had a season-high nine tackles twice, against Tulane and at Temple and also totaled 2.5 tackles for a loss and a 27-yard fumble return. 

2017
• Started 11 of 12 games at the weakside linebacker spot ... did not start at Navy due to a targeting penalty suffered late in the second half at Miami (OH).
• Finished the campaign as UC’s second-leading tackler with 101 stops
• His 9.0 tackles for a loss led the team. He also had three PBUs, three passes defended, a forced fumble and recovery.
• Totaled five double-digit tackle games, three or more stops in all 12 games and a career-high 17 tackles against Austin Peay.

2016
• Saw action in all 12 games as a backup linebacker and special teamer.
• His 42 tackles ranked among the top-8 on the team along with 1.5 tackles for a loss and a pass defended.
• Earned his first career start at Temple and had a then career-high eight tackles, in the first half, finishing the game with a career-best 12 stops and 10 solo tackles.

PRIOR TO UC
• A three-start prospect by 247Sports and a two-star recruit by Scout.
• Slotted as a Top-150 safety in the country by Scout and the No. 73 player in Alabama.
