Competed in backstroke and sprint freestyle at Louisville Collegiate School... As a freshman, she captured a state title in the 200 freestyle... Was a state finalist in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles as well as the 200 back... Broke through as a junior with state championships in the 50 and 100 freestyle, while also finaling in the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 free... That season, she also qualified for Winter Junior Nationals in the 50 free with a time of 26.84 LCM... As a senior, she returned to Winter Juniors to cap off her high school career... A four-time team MVP, she was also named an Academic All-American... Away from the pool, she ran cross country and track, finishing as region runner-up in both cross country and the 800 meters as a sophomore.
PERSONAL
Kara is bilingual in English and Turkish and spent two summers training and racing in Turkey... Outside of sports, she plays violin and was a member of the Louisville Youth Orchestra.
