HIGH SCHOOL / PREP: Attended Linn-Mar High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, swimming all four years… As a freshman, won the district championship and helped set the school record in the 200-yard medley relay… During his sophomore season, finished runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly at the Iowa state championships while setting school records in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard medley relay… As a junior, won the Iowa state championships in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley while setting school records in the 200-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle… As a senior, repeated as the state champion in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM, setting the state record in the 100-yard butterfly and school records in the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM… Named District Swimmer of the Year and All-Metro while earning the Bernie Saggau Award and Academic Honors with Distinction.
