Coaching Bio
Josh Schneider is in his first season as assistnat coach with the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving programs in 2014-15. Schneider is one of the most decorated swimmers in UC history. He remains the most recent NCAA National Champion at UC, having captured the NCAA title in the 50 freestyle as a senior in 2010. In addition to being a national champion, Schneider was a five-time All-American, a seven-time BIG EAST Conference champion and a two-time BIG EAST Male Swimmer of the Year. He left Clifton with five school records, all of which he continues to hold, in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.
Schneider has continued to swim competitively since leaving UC, spending time on the U.S. National Team beginning in 2010 when he placed second in the 50 freestyle at the U.S. Championships. He narrowly missed a chance to represent the USA at the 2011 FINA World Championships when he lost a swim-off to teammate Cullen Jones. He also just missed out on the 2012 Olympic team when he reached the finals of the 50 freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Trials, but did not qualify. Schneider did qualify for the FINA World Championships in 2012, placing sixth in the world in the 50 freestyle. He continues his swimming career with an eye on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and with Commons-DiSalle serving as his coach.
