Jenna Petrucelli
The 2018 season will mark the first for Jenna Petrucelli as an assistant coach with Bearcats lacrosse. Hired in the summer of 2017, Petrucelli (pet-truh-sell-ee) comes to UC following coaching stints at Bucknell and Rosemont College, brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the program. With the Bearcats, she will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator and work along side Shannon Witzel to assist Oliver in pushing the program to reach its goals.

Prior to her arrival in Cincinnati, Petrucelli spent two years at Bucknell where she served in several capacities as an assistant coach. Along with serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator, her on-field duties saw her guide the team as the offensive coordinator while also taking on the duties of midfield/draw control coordinator. In her two years with the Bison, she helped turned the team’s offense around and, in turn, improve its overall record as Bucknell rose from a 2-15 record to 10-8 in her first year.

Offensively, her Bison ranked among the best in the Patriot League in numerous categories as they led the way in goals per game, assists per game and points per game. Bucknell also scored a program-record 221 goals in one season while reaching the Patriot League Tournament both years, the first two appearances in the previous seven seasons. Her players also were among the best in draw controls in both the nation and the Patriot League as the Bison ranked first in 2016 and second in 2017. One of her players individuall ranked as high as eighth nationally in draw controls in 20016 before climbing as high as 16th one year later.

Petrucelli got her start in the coaching ranks in 2014 as she was hired as the head coach for the Rosemont College women’s team. During her two years with the Ravens, Petrucelli guided her team to highest win total in conference play in program history while also working with the first player in program history to earn first-team all-conference accolades. Additionally, that player not only broke the school’s draw control record, but also led the conference and ranked 27th nationally for draw controls among all NCAA Division III players.

Collegiately, Petrucelli competed for the University of Mary Washington from 2010 to 2014 and earned First Team All-America honors as a senior. The 2014 Division III Virginia State Player of the Year and Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Petrucelli recorded outstanding offensive numbers during her time with the Eagles, including scoring 10 goals in one game, which stands as a regular-season school record. On a career level, she finished her time at UMW with 170 goals, which ranks sixth all-time in program history, while also recording 189 points, the 13th-best total. As a senior, she recorded 74 goals, which not only ranks sixth in the program’s single-season history, it also was the sixth-highest total recorded in the nation that season. In addition, she broke the school record for most draw controls in a single season with 84 and, in her senior year, was ranked as the #1 impact player in the country (NCAA Division III) according to LaxPower.com.

A two-time IWLCA All-Region First Team (2013-14), two-time VaSID All-State First Team (2013-14) and all-conference first team (2014) selection, Petrucelli also was excelled academically as she graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning her B.S. in Psychology from UMW in 2014. She also served as the vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during her time at UMW.

Upon graduation, Petrucelli not only began her coaching career with Rosemont, but she also continued playing as she was named to the Italian National Team pool and participated in the team’s first-ever winter training trip in Rome. One year after graduation (2015), she founded House of Lax, a New Jersey-based company that organizes clinics committed to developing both lacrosse skills and overall athleticism.
