University of Cincinnati women's golf head coach Aimee Ponte has announced the hiring of Alex Giles.

Giles arrives in Cincinnati following a season with Seminole State College. She served as an assistant coach and helped guide the team to a runner-up finish at the NJCAA National Championship.

"Thank you to everyone at the University of Cincinnati," said Giles. "I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to join the Cincinnati women's golf team and be reunited with Coach Ponte. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me, and I can't wait to get going in the 513! Go Bearcats!"

Giles competed for Ponte and the University of the Incarnate World from 2021-23. As a senior, she placed first in the 2022-23 Southland Conference Tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA Regionals. She was named to First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Academic. 

The Bristol, England native spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Seminole State College. She was a two-time First Team NJCAA All-American and won a pair of national championships.
