Herboth is entering his second season on the Cincinnati Swimming and Diving staff as the diving coach after initially joining in the fall of 2023.
In 2024, Herboth helped lead Cincinnati’s dive team through their first season of the Big 12 Conference, with 4th place finishes for both the men’s and women’s programs. The women were able to defeat #22 Northwestern and conference rival West Virginia early in the season. He was able to find tremendous success in developing the divers, as 5 athletes qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships.
Prior to joining the Bearcats, he spent one season at George Mason University as the diving coach in 2022-23, where he assisted with the full diving group.
Prior to George Mason, he served as a diving coach at Townson University for three seasons in 2019-22. In 2021-22, Herboth led four Towson divers to the NCAA Zone A Championships, while Sarah Digaetano and Alyssa Largay were named Scholar All-Americans.
During the 2020-21 season, Herboth coached Townson senior Will Canny to a pair of silver medals (1m, 3m) and led Ajani Dorner to claim two bronze medals (1m, 3m) at the 2021 CA Conference Championships.
Before his stint at Townson, Herboth was the diving coach at California State University Bakersfield.?While at CSU Bakersfield, he coached multiple NCAA Zone E qualifiers every year and multiple Academic All-Americans.
In 2016-17, he coached Carlee Burks, who set program records in both the 1m and 3m, both records that still stand.
Herboth competed for the University of North Carolina where he was the 2004 Nike Cup 3m Champion and was the highest point scorer for a UNC swimmer or diver at the 2005 ACC Championships.
Herboth was the recipient of the David F. McGinnis award for Most Outstanding Diver at Chapel Hill for the 2004-05 season.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Herboth grew up diving under current University of Kentucky head coach Ted Hautau, where he was a five-time U.S.A. Diving National Qualifier. He was the 2002 Junior National silver and bronze medalist and a three-time First Team All-American at East Mecklenburg High School.
