PositionAssistant Coach

Before arriving at Cincinnati, Javens served as the lead assistant coach at Bucknell University. Javens worked primarily with IMers and breaststrokers, writing and implementing workouts while also spearheading technique development. Javens’ efforts were highlighted by a new program record in the men’s 100 breaststroke and contributed overall to an additional four school records, 50 entries into the program’s all-time top-10 performers lists, and a women’s third place and men’s fifth place finish at the Patriot League Championships.

In addition to her on deck coaching with the Bison, Javens collaborated with the athletic training staff to identify common swimming injury patterns and analyze areas for growth within the lift and in-water programming. In addition, she worked closely with the strength and conditioning staff to develop and implement dynamic warm up and dryland programs to help facilitate injury prevention, coordination, strength, and power development.

Prior to her time at Bucknell, Javens was responsible for rebuilding the Smith College Swimming & Diving program during her three seasons with the Bears. Javens began her collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Smith in June 2022, and the following February she was named interim co-head coach. In May 2023, she was appointed as the full-time head swimming and diving coach. Over her last two seasons at Smith, her student-athletes recorded 201 personal bests, three team records, and 56 program top-10 marks. The Pioneers compiled their highest point total in eight years at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships.

Javens received her master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College. Prior to Smith, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and English Literature at Denison University in 2022. At Denison, Javens was a team captain and led the women’s team to a 3rd place finish at the 2022 DIII NCAA Championships, earned First-Team Scholar All-American status, and swam to an All-ECAC honor in the 200 breaststroke.
