Ethan Pheister

Following graduation from Ball State University in 2010, Ethan Pheister joins the University of Cincinnati Volleyball staff for his first season.

Pheister played four years of varsity volleyball at Ball State as a setter. He is responsible for training the setters of the team. Under his direction, starting freshman setter Caylin Mahoney has already received BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors twice this season and averages 10.80 assists per set which ranks second in the conference.

He enjoyed a successful career as a Cardinal at Ball State. He spent two years as the floor captain and was a three-time all-conference performer.

Off the court, Pheister did well in the classroom. He was honored by the conference on the All-Academic team three out of his four years.

Before starting this year at UC, Pheister has had plenty of coaching experience on various levels. He coached Muncie Central High School[apos]s Freshmen team and helped with Varsity the same year when they won state in 2009. He was also an assistant coach for Junior Olympic team Munciana 14-1, who finished 3rd at their AAU national tournament in 2009. On the men[apos]s side, he coached the Cincinnati Attack 17-year-old team. He also has spent time volunteering for the UC Volleyball team.
