As a former UC swimmer, Armstrong knows the program and Hopkins well. She competed primarily in the 200 butterfly from 1998-02 for the Bearcats, and was well respected as a team leader, winning the leadership award her senior season. Armstrong placed in the Conference USA Top-10 in the 200 butterfly in 2002 in a time of 2:11.91. She was a member of the Committee to Promote Athlete Welfare and Success (C.P.A.W.S.).
After graduating from UC in 2002 with a B.A. in Personal and Industrial Relations, Armstrong became an assistant coach with the Sycamore Flying Fish. She is currently pursuing a master[apos]s in social work.
Armstrong has 12 years of competitive swimming experience, she was a four-year letterwinner at Notre Dame Academy. She was a member of two all-American relay squads while in high school, was a four-year district qualifier and was named team captain as a senior.
