Jessie Mills joined the University of Cincinnati as the Director of Student-Athlete Development in June of 2015.
Mills comes to UC from the University of Central Florida where she spent four years as a Learning Specialist for the men's basketball, baseball and women's track & field/cross country teams. She also served as the Academic Counselor for the women's track program. During this time, the track & field/cross country team earned the USTFCCA Academic All-American Team distinction in 2013 and set team grade-point average records in Spring 2013 and Spring 2015. In addition to her academic responsibilities at UCF, she also handled various compliance duties including student-athlete coding, daily enrollment checks and roster management.
Prior to UCF, Mills spent six years as an Athletic Academic Counselor at the University of Memphis working with the men's basketball, softball and women's golf teams. She also worked on solidifying the student-athlete classification system as well as assisting in the creation and implementation of the Student-Athlete Summer Bridge Program. While at Memphis, Mills also began her doctorate degree in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and published research on applying the principles of behavior analysis to change and improve student-athlete behaviors.
Mills earned her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Austin Peay State University where she was a member of the women's tennis team for four years and ran for the cross country team for one season. She earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Memphis and continues doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. An avid runner, Mills completed the 2015 Boston Marathon.
