Joseph Spagnola enters his first year on the UC coaching staff. Spagnola will have responsibilities throughout the program, but will work mainly with the goalkeepers.
Spagnola[apos]s college coaching experience includes the men[apos]s assistant coaching position at Saint Francis University from 2000-02, where he oversaw the training of the Red Flash goalkeepers. There he helped lead Saint Francis to the best conference record in school history. Spagnola spent the 1998-99 seasons as an assistant coach of the men[apos]s and women[apos]s programs at Bridgewater College, where he aided current Bearcat assistant Dan Ensley.
Prior to his arrival at Cincinnati, Spagnola served as the assistant girls[apos] coach at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He was also an instructional assistant for learning disabled students at a Virginia middle school and was a soccer coach at the Joy of Sports Foundation working with at-risk children in the Washington D.C. area.
Spagnola[apos]s collegiate playing career included the 1994 season at George Mason and the 1995 season at Mary Washington.
Spagnola earned a Bachelor[apos]s Degree in Political Science in 1999 from James Madison University where he also coached an undefeated, nationally ranked women[apos]s club soccer team. He completed his Master[apos]s Degree in Human Resource Management at Saint Francis in 2003.
Spagnola is single and resides in Cincinnati.
