Johnny Downey

Johnny Downey joined the University of Cincinnati as an assistant cheerleading coach in June 2019. His role includes coaching the Red Squad, recruiting, and assisting the Head Cheerleading Coach.  

Downey previously served as the Highlands High School Varsity coach in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Prior to this, he coached for 14 years in the Forest Hills School District for Nagel Middle School, Turpin High School, and Anderson High School. 

Downey graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2007, earning his bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. He later earned his master’s in literacy and second language studies from the University of Cincinnati in 2013.
