Kelly Jones
Kelly Jones, a four-time all-American at Pepperdine, will serve as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2006-07 season. Jones, the brother of head coach Kimberly Jones, won two NCAA doubles championships with the Waves and played in a total of 45 Grand Slam events. He was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team and won nine ATP titles in his professional career. In 1992 he reached the doubles final in the U.S. Open and Australian Open, earning the No. 1 doubles ranking in October of that year. Since 1997 he has been a national coach for the USTA, first developing junior players in the Midwest Section and then coaching professionals. He also privately coached Mardy Fish to a career-high No. 17 ranking and Xavier Malisse to his first ATP win. Jones is married to the former Tami Whitlinger, a nine-year player in the WTA Tour. The couple have an eight-year old daughter, Makenna.
