TicketsThe 2027 season will be Landon Steiner’s first with the University of Cincinnati baseball program.
He came to UC after spending two seasons at Midway University, where he served as the team’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. Steiner helped mentor pitcher Tyler Pyles in 2026 to an All-America recognition, the first in the history of Midway baseball. Pyles posted an 8-1 record across 13 starts and a 2.00 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .175 batting average. He was named the conference pitcher of the year in 2026 and was one of four pitchers along with Nathan McKissick, Xavier Hart, Brenden Cole to earn All-River States Conference accolades.
In 2025, Steiner coached five all-conference pitchers including second-teamers Dylan Burton and Jackson Lee.
Steiner spent time on staff at Morehead State prior to his time at Midway. Under his coaching, pitcher Luke Helton was named All-OVC and earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors as well. He ended his career ranking atop Morehead State’s career record book in wins (22), starts (56), and innings pitched (317.0).
Steiner was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Transylvania University for four seasons (2020-23). Steiner worked with the program’s trainers and team doctors to develop a pitching philosophy integrating Armored Heat, a system that helped Transylvania post a .571 winning percentage over his four seasons and produced two All-Americans, six ABCA All-Region players, and 11 all-conference players.
The Pioneers led their conference in nearly every pitching category (ERA, Shutouts, OBA, Strikeouts, WHIP, and K’s per 9) in 2023, helping the team to a second-place finish in the regular season. Connor Arnold and Brennan Perry were both all-conference pitchers that season.
The 2022 season saw the Pioneers play their entire season on the road due to stadium construction, but the season before was perhaps the best in school history. In 2021, Transylvania earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament win after winning regular season and conference tournament titles. It was the school’s first postseason appearance in 13 years. The championships were the first in school history, and Steiner helped by mentoring the HCAC Pitcher of the Year (Jake Schmidt). The Pioneers’ pitching staff led the conference in ERA and strikeouts. Schmidt’s 93 strikeouts ranked 10th nationally in 2021. Trent Youngblood, who would go on to be drafted in the 10th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks, earned ABCA First Team All-Region and was a D3baseball.com All-American.
Prior to his time at Transylvania, Steiner spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Asheboro Copperheads in the Coastal Plains League. He coached six Coastal Plains League All-Stars during his two years with the team, and in 2019 the team slugged a club-record 50 home runs.
Steiner played collegiately at Southeastern Community College (N.C.) as a two-way player. After a season a Southeastern, Steiner transferred to Winston-Salem State University. As a junior in 2016, he led the team in batting average and was an All-CIAA First Team performer, leading the team with a .359 batting average and six home runs. His senior year in which he hit .341 with six homers, won a conference title, and earned another First Team All-CIAA conference selection. He also led the pitching staff in saves while registering a 2.84 ERA while recording over 12 strikeouts per nine innings.
He graduated from WSSU with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
