University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Katrina Merriweather announced the addition of graduate assistant Lanyce Williams. She completed her second season with the program in 2024-25.

Williams assists the staff with a number of internal operations and coaching responsibilities while completing her graduate degree in educational leadership. She has been a key contributor to Cincinnati’s upward trajectory since Merriweather’s arrival, helping guide the Bearcats to 29 wins over the past two seasons.

In 2023-24, the Bearcats saw a five-win improvement from the season prior and their 14 wins were the most in a single season since 2019-20. The squad posted its best non-conference winning percentage (72.7%) in 15 years and won six consecutive games during the stretch for its longest win streak since 2019-20.

The Arlington, Tenn., native assumed a volunteer student assistant coach role under Merriweather at Memphis in 2022-23, in which three Tigers collected all-conference accolades while the team finished 22-11, its first 20-win season since 2011-12, and advanced to the WNIT Sweet 16.

A former three-star prospect by ESPN, Williams played for Memphis from 2019-22 before her career was halted by persistent injuries and a heart condition. She also has experience in a similar coaching capacity with AAU basketball over the last two summers.

Williams graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in education from Memphis in May 2023. She earned a spot of the dean's list each semester and served as the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2022-23.
