Spencer Tuckerman is the Assistant Athletics Director for Social Media and Creative Content at the University of Cincinnati, where he leads the department’s digital and social media efforts. He helps shape department-wide content strategy and storytelling while connecting communications and creative teams across Cincinnati Athletics. He also oversees staff responsible for photography and social content, including sponsored programming, podcasts and other department-wide initiatives.
Tuckerman joined Cincinnati Athletics in 2019 as Director of Digital Media and Strategy. He was promoted to Director of Social Media and Creative Content in 2024 before being elevated to Assistant Athletics Director in 2025.
During his tenure, Tuckerman has helped oversee significant audience growth across Cincinnati’s social platforms. During the Bearcats’ historic 2021-22 football season, the @GoBEARCATS Twitter account ranked No. 1 in the country in engagement, while the @gobearcats Instagram account ranked No. 1 nationally in growth. Since Cincinnati’s transition to the Big 12, the department’s combined social media following has increased nearly 50 percent while social media impressions have more than doubled between 2022-23 and 2025-26.
Tuckerman has contributed to a number of Cincinnati Athletics’ major digital and creative initiatives, including creative communications surrounding the university’s move to the Big 12 and serving as a co-producer on the 2021 and 2022 seasons of the football program’s Let It Fly docuseries. The inaugural season earned an Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award. In 2025, he also led Cincinnati Athletics’ transition to WMT as the department’s website and mobile app provider.
His work has frequently centered on connecting Cincinnati’s history with current fans. Tuckerman led storytelling efforts surrounding the return of men’s basketball’s “The Cats” throwback uniforms in 2022, the 100th anniversary of the dedication of Nippert Stadium in 2024 and the men’s basketball program’s 125th season in 2025-26. He also leads Cincinnati Athletics’ annual Black History Month storytelling campaign, highlighting former Bearcats across generations.
In addition to managing the department’s main athletics social media channels, Tuckerman oversees Cincinnati men’s basketball’s social media while helping guide the program’s creative direction and digital strategy.
Prior to joining Cincinnati Athletics, Tuckerman worked as a digital designer for Columbus-based media production agency Mills James from 2017-19. He founded the independent Bearcats-focused website and social media brand OhVarsity! in 2013. Tuckerman first worked with Cincinnati Athletics as a student intern within the department’s external communications unit.
He earned a bachelor of fine arts in electronic media from Cincinnati in December 2015 along with a certificate in journalism.
Born in Cincinnati and raised in Cleveland, Tuckerman and his wife, Kara, live in Cincinnati with their daughter, Vivian, and dog, Jimmy.
