  • Ranked among the nation's top 10 leading passers as a junior in 1948.
  • Led the nation in passing yardage (1,617) in 1949, passing for 16 touchdowns.
  • Inserted into the game vs. Miami University as a freshman and fired a touchdown pass that clinched the 13-7 victory and sent UC to the Sun Bowl, its first bowl appearance.
  • Jersey number 27 retired when he concluded his career.
