COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Senior David Gustavsson (Aby, Sweden/Ebersteinska) won three individual crowns, but the University of Cincinnati men's swimming and diving team fell to Ohio State, 155-124, tonight (Nov. 11) at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The Bearcats, now 2-3 in dual meets this season, earned seven event titles, with Gustavsson leading the way. The 2004 Academic All-American won the 100 breaststroke (57.49), the 100 freestyle (45.79), and the 100 butterfly (52.34). He also swam a leg on the 200 freestyle relay team, which won in 1:23.75.

Other Bearcat winners included senior Steve Marshall (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.82), sophomore Steve Wood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) in the 500 freestyle (5:06.68) and freshman Bjorn Mates (Eislingen, Germany/Wirtemberg Gymnasium) in the 200 backstroke (1:48.15). It was the fourth individual title of the season for the freshman from Germany.

Both UC's men's and women's squads will head to Bloomington, Ind. on Nov. 18 for the Indiana Invitational.
