CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of dual meets against BIG EAST foe Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 4) at the Keating Aquatics Center. The men's team fell, 147-84, while the women were defeated by a 192.5-47.5 count.

The men's 400 freestyle relay, the final event, was the most exhilarating, with UC's Ryan Weitzel holding off a late charge from Pitt's Patrick Mansfield to win by a tenth.

Marcel Kleiner was the bright spot for the Bearcats, capturing a pair of individual event titles. He won the 50 free in 21.07 and also grabbed the 100 free title for the second straight meet, touching the wall in 46.62. Freshman Josh Schneider, who has looked impressive in the early going, finished just behind Kleiner in the 50 free (21.37). Bjorn Mates won the 200 IM in 1:54.54 for UC's other event title.

The women were beaten by a deeper team that featured a champion in each of the events. Paola Rivas posted a pair of second-place finishes. She fell short in the 1000 freestyle by just two tenths (10:32.52) and also finished second in the 500 free. A day after winning the 1 meter dive competition against Oakland, freshman Kelsey Heggeness finished second against Pittsbugh with a 195.75 score.

The Bearcats will head to , for the competitive Indiana Invitational on Nov. 17-18.
