FOR STARTERS:
The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams open a three-meet homestand when they host Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Keating Aquatics Center at 5 p.m. The Bearcats are coming off splitting a meet at Louisville on Saturday. The Bearcats men won to raise their record to 2-3, while the women fell to 0-5. The RedHawks men are 1-3 in dual meets this year and the women are 6-0.

BEARCAT BITES:
• Sixteen men and 12 women have qualified for the 2007 BIG EAST Championships. Bjorn Mates has made the qualifying times in seven events and Jakub Carda and Marcel Kleiner have each done so in six. Alex Doyle leads the women with qualifying marks in six events. Five other women have done so in five events.
• Senior Gerdien de Jong reached the NCAA `B' standard in the 100 free at the Miami Invitational and led off the UC record-setting 400 free relay team that also met the `B' standard.

LAST TIME VS. MIAMI:
The Bearcats and RedHawks both participated in a quad meet at Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 13, 2006. The UC men placed second, behind just MU, while the Bearcats women were third, behind the host team and Louisville. UC won seven event titles on the men's side, led by Marcel Kleiner's victories in the 100 and 200 freestyle. For the women, Randi Vogel (200 back) and Annelie Jonsson (200 breast) posted victories.

LAST TIME OUT:
Marcel Kleiner won two events and set a pool record to lead the Cincinnati men's swimming and diving team to a 121-102 win over Louisville on Jan. 13. The UC women were defeated by the Cardinals, 141-90. Kleiner posted wins in the 50 free and 100 free, setting a pool record in the former in a time of 20.92 seconds. The women took home four event victories, including a sweep of the top four spots in the 500 free, led by Paola Rivas (5:10.27).
