FOR STARTERS:
The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams have their final dual meets of the season when they host Kentucky on Friday, Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. and travel to take on Wright State on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. The UK meet will serve as Senior Day for the Bearcats, as 12 student-athletes will be recognized before the meet.

BEARCAT BITES:
• Eighteen men and 13 women have qualified for the 2007 BIG EAST Championships. Bjorn Mates has made the qualifying times in seven events and Jakub Carda and Marcel Kleiner have each done so in six. Randi Vogel leads the women with qualifying marks in seven events and Alex Doyle and Shannon McCarthy have done so in six events.
• Senior Gerdien de Jong reached the NCAA `B' standard in the 100 free at the Miami Invitational and led off the UC record-setting 400 free relay team that also met the `B' standard.

LAST TIME VS. KENTUCKY:
UC's teams dropped dual meets on Feb. 4, 2006 against Kentucky at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. The No. 17 Wildcat men outscored the Bearcats men, 155-96, while the 25th-ranked UK women defeated UC, 155-100. The women captured six individual titles, two each by juniors Randi Vogel (200 back and 200 IM) and Karen Brasier (100 free and 100 fly), and the men earned four, led by a pair of victories from freshman Bjorn Mates (200 back and 200 IM).

LAST TIME VS. WRIGHT STATE:
The UC teams swept dual meet victories from Wright State on Jan. 28, 2006 at St. Xavier's Keating Natatorium. The Bearcats captured 18 of the 22 event titles, with Paola Rivas, Gerdien de Jong, and David Gustavsson each capturing two titles. The men and women each posted nine individual wins, including the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.

LAST TIME OUT:
UC was defeated by West Virginia on Jan. 20. The Bearcats men fell, 184-132, and the women were topped, 201-114. Marcel Kleiner was the top performer for UC, winning the 200 free and anchoring the winning 800 free relay team, then finishing second in the 50 and 100 free races. Bjorn Mates was also a part of the winning relay team and placed first in the 100 back and second in the 200 back. Jakub Carda was the other event-winner, finishing first in the 400 IM. The women recorded seven second-place finishes.

The Bearcats head to Long Island, N.Y. to take part in the 2007 BIG EAST Championships from Feb. 14-17.
