CINCINNATI, Ohio - Nine event wins led the Cincinnati women's swimming and diving team to a 123-116 win at Wright State on Saturday. Despite two event wins by Jeremy Peter, the Bearcats men fell, 140-83.
Paola Rivas won both the 500 and 1000 free races and Randi Vogel placed first in the 200 back and 400 IM. Gerdien de Jong won the 100 free and anchored the winning teams in the 400 free relay and 400 medley relay. Younger sister Elinore de Jong won the 50 free race and was second in the 100 free.
Annelie Jonsson was UC's final winner, taking the 200 breast title. She also placed second in the 200 IM.
For the men, Peter won the 200 breast and 400 IM races. Steve Marshall and Jakub Carda finished just behind Peter in the 200 breast as UC swept the top three spots. Bjorn Mates was the only other winner for the men, taking the 200 back. Marcel Kleiner placed second in the 50 and 100 free races.
UC is next in action at the BIG EAST Championships in Long Island from Feb. 14 to Feb. 17.
