IN THE STARTING BLOCKS:
The University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team will open the 2008 schedule at the Bowling Green Quadrangular on Jan. 18 at BGSU's Perry Field House.

BEARCAT BITES:
• The Bearcats have eight BIG EAST qualifiers after their first meet of the season, the Oiler Open.
• Senior Monica Hundley returns as the school's record holder in the 60 hurdles.
• Senior Brittany Klima won the BIG EAST outdoor title in the pole vault last season and holds the outdoor school record. She is second in school history in the indoor pole vault and holds seven of the top 13 marks in UC annals.
• Head coach Jim Schnur is in his 23rd year at Cincinnati and seventh as head coach.
• UC finished 10th at the 2007 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, with Renee Hein and Tara Meier grabbing individual titles.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Bearcats posted eight BIG EAST qualifiers at the Oiler Open on Dec. 1. Freshman Natasha Burse was the top performer, winning the 200 meters title and finishing second in the 60 meters and 60 hurdles. Burse also captured a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Senior Monica Hundley won the 60 hurdles in 8.76 and sophomore Ashley Arnold grabbed the 400 meters title with a 57.60. Senior Brittany Klima was UC's lone victor in the field events, winning the pole vault with an 11' 11-3/4" clearance.

UP NEXT:
The Bearcats head to Bloomington, Ind., for the Gladstein Invitational on Jan. 25 and 26.
