PROVIDENCE, R.I.---Fresh off a complete game three-hitter that helped his team clinch a series over Seton Hall, University of Cincinnati junior Michael Hill has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the period ending on May 11.
The honor, the first for Hill as a Bearcat, came courtesy of a performance that saw him strike out a career-high 10 in a 7-1 Cincinnati win on Sunday. Hill retired the last 13 hitters of the game consecutively after yielding a two-out single in the fifth inning. He also did something no UC pitcher had done since 1999 when he struck out four batters in the fourth inning.
Hill becomes the second Cincinnati hurler to earn the honor this year, joining Dan Osterbrock who was tabbed on April 21.
The BIG EAST also honored Josh Harrison, as he earned a spot on the five-player Weekly Honor Roll. In four games, Harrison hit at a .538 clip (7-for-13) with five runs, six RBI, three doubles and three stolen bases.
This week brings the conclusion to the regular season for the Bearcats. UC will wrap up non-conference play, hosting Wright State on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. The curtain comes down on BIG EAST play beginning on Thursday with a three-game home series against West Virginia.
