CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team will take on Michigan in its exhibition finale on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
The Bearcats dropped the preseason opener at home against a veteran Butler squad, 2-1, on Aug. 17 at Gettler Stadium. Freshman Matt Bahner (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) scored the Bearcats' goal off a feed from junior Luke Henke (Wauwatosa, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran).
The Bearcats are led by three-year starter and the lone senior on the squad, Brad Simpson (Novi, Mich./Novi). The center back scored one goal and added four assists in 2007, while combining with all-BIG EAST back Amir Ikner (Olathe, Kan./Blue Valley West) as one of the top defensive combos in the BIG EAST.
UC will open regular season play on Aug. 29 against crosstown rival Xavier. Kickoff between the Bearcats and Musketeers is set for 7 p.m. at the XU Soccer Complex.
