CINCINNATI
— The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team's lone senior, Brad Simpson (Novi, Mich./Novi), was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Oct. 6).
Simpson scored the game-winning goal in UC's 1-0 victory at Villanova on Satuday (Oct. 4), securing the Bearcats' first BIG EAST win of the season and snapping a six-match winless streak. His defensive prowess also guided UC to its fifth shutout of the season and its second shutout in BIG EAST play. The fifth-year senior has started 54-of-55 career matches at center back and has posted three goals and seven assists for 13 career points.
The Bearcats are in action next on Tuesday night (Oct. 7), as they welcome No. 8 Louisville to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. kick. Fans are being encouraged to "Black Out" Gettler Stadium. All fans wearing black will receive $1 admission to the match, which will feature kazoo, horn and thunderstick giveaways while supplies last.
