CINCINNATI - Sophomore guard Alvin Mitchell (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) scored a career-high 15 points, and junior guard Deonta Vaughn (Indianapolis, Ind./Harmony Community) added 12 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead Cincinnati to an 82-51 victory against Texas Southern on Tuesday (Nov. 18) at Fifth Third Arena.

The win was the second straight 31-point win for the Bearcats, marking the first time since the 2000-01 season that UC has won consecutive games by 30-plus points.

Freshman guard Dion Dixon (Chicago, Ill./Crane Technical) and junior forward Steve Toyloy (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes) helped the Bearcat bench outscore the Tigers 42-9 on the night. Dixon scored four points, dished out five assists, and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Toyloy recorded his first double-digit scoring performance as a Bearcat with 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field.

"The biggest bright spot tonight is Steve Toyloy," said third-year head coach Mick Cronin. "It doesn't surprise me because he practices hard every day and never takes a play off."

From the beginning, Texas Southern (0-2) was no match for UC (2-0). The Tigers missed eight of their first nine shots and fell behind 21-5 nine minutes into the game.

Two big runs, a 16-2 run and a 15-0 run, in the first half helped the Bearcats build a 51-24 halftime lead. It was the first time the Bearcats scored 50 points in a half since posting 50 in the second half vs. North Carolina State on Dec. 23, 2006.

Texas Southern was led by DeAndre Hall's career-high 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Michael Drewy notched 11 points and seven rebounds.
