Western Michigan responded with a two-out double and a two-out single in the top of the sixth to re-establish its four-run cushion, 5-1.

Cincinnati closed within three runs again with a run in the seventh inning. Senior Cameron Satterwhite (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) drew a one-out walk, bringing Spina to the plate.
