PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to the University of Pittsburgh 18-4 in its conference opener Friday afternoon at Trees Field on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The Bearcats fell to 9-7 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play, while Pitt improved to 10-5 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

The Bearcats fell behind early as the Panthers put two runs on the board in the first inning, and added a run in the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead.

Sophomore Chris Peters (Tipp City, Ohio/Tipp City) drove home two runs in the fifth inning to cut the Bearcat deficit in half, 4-2, but the Panthers responded with four runs in its half of the fifth, expanding their lead to 8-2.

Back-to-back solo home runs in the sixth inning by senior Cameron Satterwhite (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and junior Beach Brooks (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) brought UC back within four runs, 8-4, but that was as close as UC was the rest of the game as Pittsburgh went on to win 18-4.

The Bearcats and Panthers continue their three-game series at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
