CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team held the ninth of its 15 spring workouts Wednesday, practicing for two hours under cloudy cool skies at Nippert Stadium.
Midway through the third week of practice, head coach Brian Kelly said that the focus is moving towards more situational work in the final six workouts of the spring.
"We have a good understanding of who physically can do what," Kelly said. "We want to see who has that football intelligence and who can make good decisions based on the different circumstances. Over the next week, we'll place our guys in those football situations."
Assistant head coach Mike Elston spoke with GoBEARCATS.com following practice. Elston has moved over to the defensive side of the ball, coaching the defensive linemen along with his responsibilities mentoring UC's special teams units. Under his guidance, UC has topped the national ranks in net punting in each of the past two seasons. View the complete interview HERE.
