LOVELAND, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati celebrates this week's Bearcats Friday.

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics developed a way for businesses and campus offices around the country to join in on the fun and show their pride for the University. Bearcats Friday is scheduled to run throughout the year. Over the last nine months over 40 companies and 6500 employees across the country are involved in this program.

This week's Bearcats Friday winner is Loveland Primary!

Head Coach Jamelle Elliott and current women's basketball players Shelly Bellman, Val Schuster and Stephanie Stevens visited Loveland Elementary today to celebrate BEARCATS FRIDAY, talk with the students and share the FUTURE BEARCATS program.

Loveland Primary students earn Tiger Tickets for showing Care, Respect and Responsibility throughout their school year. After they have earned a ticket the tickets go into a bucket for prize drawings. To celebrate their achievement of positive behaviors some second grade students at Loveland Primary received Bearcat prizes.

The second graders from Loveland Primary wore RED & BLACK to support the Bearcats Friday! Students listened to new Head Women's Basketball Coach Jamelle Elliott and players Shelly Bellman, Stephanie Stevens and Val Schuster how UC uses Care, Respect and Responsiblity as they work as a team.

Coach Elliott asked the students how they defined the words care, respect and responsibility. After interacting with the students, she gave her coaching perspective on how she uses those same philosophies at the collegiate level.

"As a coach, I care about all my players and my staff like they are part of my family. We expect our student-athletes to respect their elders, teachers, doctors, strength coaches as well. They are also expected to be responsible when taking care of their work in the classroom, during practices and games. Care, respect and responsibility are qualities that should be carried throughout the rest of your lives."

At the end of the program, the players helped to draw out tiger tickets and gave the students prizes for their Bearcats Friday prize drawings.

"What a great inspiration UC's coach Ms. Elliott and players Miss Bellman, Miss Stevens and Miss Schuster were for the second graders!", said second grade Loveland Primary teacher Tammy Ruehrwein.
