PITTSBURGH, Pa. - University of Cincinnati swimmer Josh Schneider continued his strong performance at the 2010 BIG EAST Championships at Trees Pool in Pittsburgh, winning his second individual title and setting his second school, meet, and pool record of the meet.

Schneider swam a school, Trees Pool, and BIG EAST meet record time of 46.44 in the 100 butterfly to win his second individual title in as many days. It is his sixth overall BIG EAST crown, and second straight in the 100 butterfly event. Schneider's time is tied for the third-fastest in the country this season and is an NCAA provisional time.

The men's team is in sixth with 200 points. Notre Dame (546) leads Louisville (541), Pittsburgh (399), West Virginia (315), Connecticut (238), and UC. Seton Hall (126), Georgetown (101), Villanova (84), Providence (56), and Syracuse (16) fills out the ledger.

The women's squad sits in seventh with 173 points. Notre Dame moved into the meet lead (558.5), over Louisville (532), West Virginia (359), Pittsburgh (309.5), Rutgers (220), Villanova (177), and the Bearcats. Connecticut (163), Georgetown (74), Seton Hall (74), and Providence makes of the rest of the leaderboard.

The women's 400-medley relay squad of Liz Hansson, Stephanie Conklin, Elinore de Jong, and Lange Gilby placed sixth with a combined time of 3:44.34, beating the school-record mark of 3:46.38. The previous record of 3:46.38 was set in 2009 by Shannon McCarthy, Karli Kentner, de Jong, and Gilby.

The men's quartet of Nick Saul, Jeremy Peter, Schneider, and Matt Hays clocked a time of 3:19.55 to place fifth in the 400-medley relay.

Peter won the consolation final of the 400 IM, clocking 3:56.60 for the victory.

De Jong placed fourth in the championship final of the women's 100 butterfly. She clocked 54.30, just under her morning prelims time of 54.23.

Hansson placed fourth in the consolation final of the women's 200 freestyle, swimming a time of 1:50.77, bettering her preliminary time of 1:51.80.

Nate Kramer placed fourth in the men's 200 freestyle consolation final with an effort of 1:39.97. Matt Hays, who swam 1:41.23 in the same race, placed seventh.

Stephanie Conklin clocked 1:03.94, just off the UC record of 1:03.48, to take second place in the consolation final of the women's 100 breaststroke.

Nick Saul was seventh in the consolation finals of the men's 100 backstroke event. He swam a time of 52.47.

The final day of competition at Trees Pool gets underway at 10 a.m. Events on the schedule include the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, and 200 butterfly.

In the evening, a senior recognition is planned at 5:35, prior to the start of the finals at 6 p.m. Teams will also compete in the 400-freestyle relay.
