CINCINNATI - Playing for the final time in front of their home crowd, the University of Cincinnati seniors carried the Bearcats to a 10-0 victory in its final regular-season game over Georgetown University Friday evening at Marge Schott Stadium. All four senior position players recorded a hit in their final game at home, while all three senior pitchers saw action in the last two days as the Bearcats completed the three-game sweep over the Hoyas to improve to 29-27 overall and 13-14 in conference play.

Junior Justin Riddell led UC with three hits, while seniors Jamel Scott and Jimmy Jacquot each recorded a pair of hits. Seniors Beach Brooks and Kevin Johnson each doubled and Johnson moved from first base to the mound in the ninth inning to close out the win.

The 10-0 victory marked UC's first shutout of the season and freshman Andrew Strenge picked up the win, moving his record to 7-1 on the season Strenge finished conference play with a 0.62 ERA in 29.0 innings of work and struck out 29 while yielding just one walk.

After a scoreless first inning, Cincinnati broke open a scoreless tie and hit for the cycle as a team in the frame. Riddell led things off with a double to left field and moved to third base on a single from sophomore Braden Kline. Following a strikeout, junior Mikel Huston hit a three-run home run to left field, his first home run as a Bearcat, giving UC a 3-0 lead.

Following the home run, Brooks reached base on a one-out walk and moved up a base on an infield single by Scott. Two batters later with Brooks and Scott still on their respective bases, sophomore T.J. Jones lined a two-out triple off the wall in right-center field scoring both runners and widening the UC lead to 5-0.

The Bearcats continued to add to their lead in the third inning and fourth innings on a RBI-double from Johnson in the third and a RBI single by Jacquot in the fourth inning, expanding their lead to 7-0.

UC put a three-spot on the board in the sixth to open its lead to double digits, 10-0, and that would end up being the final score.

Huston led the team with three RBI, while Jacquot and Jones drove in a pair of runs.

The Bearcats head to Clearwater, Fla., for the 2010 BIG EAST Baseball Championships, which will be held at Bright House Networks Fields May 26-30. Cincinnati will be the No. 7 seed and its opponent has yet to be determined. UC is set to open play in the conference championships against the No. 2 seed at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26.
