LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Cincinnati swimming team wrapped up action at the Ralph Wright Natatorium Saturday as the 2011 BIG EAST Conference Championships came to a close.

The women's team tallied 302 points and placed sixth. Louisville tallied 820.5 points to win the women's championship. Notre Dame was second (655.5), followed by West Virginia (396), Villanova (395.5), Pittsburgh (331.5), the Bearcats, Rutgers (282), Connecticut (261), Seton Hall (101), Georgetown (90), and Providence (54).

The Bearcats men's team scored 167 points to take seventh place. Louisville completed the title sweep with 917 points. Notre Dame took second (713.5), followed by Pittsburgh (503), West Virginia (470), Connecticut (239.5), Seton Hall (230), UC, Georgetown (153), Villanova (113), Providence (83), and Syracuse (30).

Prior to the evening finals, the 1,650-yard freestyle took place.

Nathan Williams placed third in the men's race with his time of 15:30.37, an NCAA B cut and the sixth-fastest time in school history. Stephen Cunningham was fifth with his own NCAA B time of 15:34.46, a personal best and the seventh fastest time in UC history. Nate Kramer placed 21st with his time of 16:35.57.

Katie Nemann had the top UC finish on the women's side, clocking 17:25.00. Amanda Hardewig placed 24th (17:45.37), and Melody Smith took 27th (18:10.19).

Liz Hansson finished fourth in the A final of the 200 backstroke with a personal best time of 1:58.63, the second-fastest effort in school history. Hardewig was 16th overall after swimming 2:07.10 in the B final.

Weronika Wasiakowska placed 13th and Bailey Laban took 14th in the B final of the women's 100 freestyle after swimming times of 51.83 and 51.84, respectively.

Josefin Wede clocked 2:16.22 to place eighth in the women's 200 breaststroke A final. Stephanie Conklin too third in the B final and 11th overall with her effort of 2:16.26, and Victoria Jacumski was 15th overall with her 2:18.05 clocking.

Laurie Caudry swam a time of 2:03.41 to place fourth in the women's 200 butterfly B final and 12th overall.

The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Hansson, Kinsey Kowalski, Laban, and Wasiakowska swam 3:24.97, the fifth-best time in school history to place third in the race. Hansson's leadoff leg of 49.82 was the second-best 100 freestyle in school history.

The men's squad of Roberto Nevarez, Williams, Matt Hays, and Cunningham swam 3:04.21 to place sixth in the 400-freestyle relay.
