CINCINNATI - Senior OF Justin Riddell (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) went 3-for-3 and the University of Cincinnati baseball team defeated Youngstown State University 13-0 Saturday in a rain-shorted game at Marge Schott Stadium.

The Bearcats (3-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) scored two runs in the first inning and continued to build their lead, scoring three runs in the third and fourth innings.

UC capped its offensive output with five runs in the fifth inning. Sophomore OF Jake Proctor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) hit his second homerun of the season with a runner on to give Cincinnati a 10-run lead. Two batters later, Riddell hit RBI-double down the rightfield line, followed by sacrifice flies by senior catcher Nick Rohlfs (Loveland, OhioMoeller) and junior 2B T.J. Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle).

Senior RHP Dan Jensen (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) allowed just three hits in six scoreless innings and struck out three batters to pick up his first win of the season.

Cincinnati was threatening to score again before a rain shower caused a delay with bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning. The weather forced the game to be called an official game with the final score UC 13, YSU 0.

The Bearcats will play a doubleheader against Youngstown State on Sunday. Game 1 will start at 1 p.m. ET. Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
