DES MOINES, Iowa - University of Cincinnati juniors Terrence Somerville (Akron, Ohio/Butchel) and Eric Finan (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond) will compete back-to-back in their respective events Saturday during CBS' national broadcast of the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from 1-3 p.m. ET at Drake University.
The live broadcast will be carried in the Cincinnati market on WKRC-TV Local 12.
Somerville will run in the 110-meter hurdles at 2:16 p.m. ET., followed by Finan's race in the 5,000-meter run at 2:21 p.m. ET.
Somerville advanced to the finals of Saturday's 110m hurdles after placing first in the second heat with a time of 13.53 seconds Thursday evening. Somerville will enter the finals as the No. 6 seed, with Texas Tech senior Omo Osaghea the top seed after recording a mark of 13.32 seconds in the first heat.
Finan qualified for the finals of the 5,000-meter run after placing fourth at the NCAA East Regional meet in Bloomington, Ind. with a time of 14 minutes, 7.54 seconds. His personal best time of 13:49.80 recorded April 23 at the Polytan Invitational, also in Bloomington, Ind., is a UC record. Finan's top competition will come from Stanford senior Elliot Heath, who recorded a 2011 NCAA best mark of 13:26.14 on May 1 at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Stanford, Calif.
CBS Sports' Ian Eagle; analyst Larry Rawson; 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympian and 1983 and 1985 NCAA Outdoor long jump champion Carol Lewis; and 1996 Olympic decathlon gold medalist Dan O'Brien will call the action from Drake Stadium.
