CINCINNATI - The Black squad defeated the Red team 10-1 in Game 1 of the University of Cincinnati baseball team's Red & Black World Series Friday evening at Marge Schott Stadium.

Junior Andrew Strenge (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghose Prep) earned the win for the Black team after pitching four scoreless innings. The 6-foot-1 right-hander struck out six batters and allowed just one hit.

Senior outfielder/catcher Braden Kline (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw Community) had a huge game for the Black offense after hitting a two-run home run and scoring three runs. Overall the 2011 All-BIG EAST Third Teamer finished the game hitting 2 for 3 with a walk.

Senior catcher Jake Saylor (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton/Paradise CC) also scored three runs for the Black team.

Sophomore left-hander Jason Pascuzzi (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) pitched the final three innings for the Black team, allowing just one run while punching out three, to pick up the save.

Freshman infielder Joey Bielek (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chapparal) doubled and scored two runs for Black.

Game 2 of the Red & Black World Series begins noon Saturday at Marge Schott Stadium. Alex Massengil, UC baseball's adopted 10-year-old, cancer-surviving teammate, is scheduled to throw out the first pitch.

Game 3 is schedule for a 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday.
