PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished Day 2 action at the Pittsburgh Invitational Saturday night at Trees Pool.

The Cincinnati men sit in fourth place out of five teams with a point total of 311. Pittsburgh is in first with 786 points.

The UC women are currently in fifth place with 205.5 points and trail first-place Ohio State, which has 925.

In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the UC 'A' team of freshman Awse Ma'aya (Amman, Jordan/The Bolles School), senior Haywood Miller (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase/Maryland), sophomore Rob Walsh (Fort Wright, Ky./Covington Catholic) and senior Matt Hays (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) placed fifth with a mark of 1 minute, 34.63 seconds.

In the men's 400 individual medley, Miller gave the Bearcats 15 fourth-place points with a time of 4:03.98. Miller also added a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke finals with a mark of 57.71 seconds

Ma'aya later gave UC a 12 seventh-place points in the 100 backstroke with a recorded time of 52.52 seconds.

Freshman Michael Craig (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/North Royalton) won the consolation round of the 100-yard breaststroke after finishing in 58.83 seconds.

In the women's division, senior Stephanie Conklin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) placed eighth in the championship round of the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:05.36. Freshman Helena Pikhartova (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Jana Nerudy) won the consolation round, placing ninth overall, with a mark of 1:03.85.

Sophomore Victoria Jacumski (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) placed two spots behind Pikhartova (11th overall) in the 100 breast with a mark of 1:05.22.

Action resumes 9 a.m. Sunday with the prelims for the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and platform diving.
