CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team (6-5) lost to University of Indianapolis (7-2), 50-43, on Monday, Dec. 19 at Fifth Third Arena. Bjonee Reaves (San Bernardino, Calif./Cajon/Neosho County (Kan.)) led all scorers for the second-straight game with 18 points - all of which were scored in the second half.

Both teams struggled offensively, as the Bearcats shot just 30 percent (18-59) and UIndy went 16-of-51 (31 percent). UC shot just 22 percent (7-31) in the first stanza and couldn't recover, despite Reaves second-half efforts.

The Hounds opened up the scored on a 3-ball and eventually went on an 11-0 run break out to a 19-10 lead with 6:54 left. Tiffany Turner (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Chanel Chisholm (Long Island, N.Y./North Babylon/Vanderbilt) combined for 16 of the team's 17 first-half points, as UIndy held the 22-17 lead at the break.

Reaves scored UC's first seven points of the second half, but Indianapolis built the lead up to 10, 34-24, in the first five minutes. Both teams remained scoreless for the next four minutes, but Turner ended the drought with 10:32 remaining to make it 34-26. UC didn't make another basket for another four minutes, but Reaves hit three 3-pointers to cut the deficit, 45-39, with 3:23 left. But that wasn't enough, as the Greyhounds shot 14-of-19 from the free throw line to seal the victory.

The Bearcats return to Fifth Third Arena for a noon matchup against Longwood on Thursday, Dec. 22. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to 'Take Your Kid To The Game Day' and have the chance to win prizes during on-court contests. It is also UC Faculty and Staff Day.
