ON THE MOUND FOR THE BEARCATS
-Junior right-hander Zach Isler will make his second start of the season in the series opener on Saturday. The 6-foot-5 flamethrower allowed just one unearned run in seven innings with 10 strikeouts against Rutgers on April 27 in his lone start of the year. With 19 appearances on the season, Isler owns a 3.18 ERA with 15 walks and 44 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched.
-Freshman left-hander Zach Morris will climb the mound in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader. Morris is coming off his roughest outing in his career after the 6-foot-3 southpaw allowed seven runs (six earned) in five innings pitched against Rutgers on April 28. Morris ranks 12th in the BIG EAST in opponent batting average (.254) during conference play. Overall, Morris has a 3.59 ERA with 19 walks and 35 strikeouts in a team-leading 57 2-3 innings pitched.
-Sunday's starting pitcher for the Bearcats is to be announced.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
-Senior left-handed pitcher Cory Hough was in UC's starting lineup against Rutgers University on Sunday, for the first time since May 15, 2010. However, Hough was not on the lineup card as a pitcher, instead he was the designated hitter and tied his career high with two hits after batting 2 for 3 and scoring one run.
-Hough was also the designated hitter Wednesday vs. Wright State and went 1 for 3 with a walk.

CLEARY ATOP UC'S ALL-TIME WINS MARK
-Bearcats baseball head coach Brian Cleary earned career win No. 405 after UC defeated Ohio 11-2 April 3.
-With 405 career wins, Cleary surpassed UC hall-of-famer and longtime Cincinnati Reds official scorekeeper Glenn Sample, who from 1961-1981 recorded 404 career wins, 13 of which occurred during the autumn season.
-The career milestone is the second Cleary has achieved this year after he earned career win No. 400 when the Bearcats defeated Chicago State 6-0 in the first game of a March 10th doubleheader.

MERGEN RAISES GAME VS. XU
-Senior left-handed pitcher Brad Mergen recorded two of his best outings of the season against crosstown rival Xavier University in 2012.
-On April 11 when the Bearcats faced XU in the third-place game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic, Mergen pitched a then-season-high 5 2-3 innings, and allowed just two earned runs (three total) with two strikeouts.
-On April 24 at Xavier's Hayden Field, Mergen set career highs in innings pitched (7 1-3) and strikeouts (seven), while limiting the Musketeers to just three runs, only two of which were earned.
-Mergen owns a 2.08 ERA with nine strikeouts in 13 innings pitched against XU in 2012.
