CINCINNATI - Twenty-one former Bearcats are hard at work in NFL training camps throughout the country in preparation for the upcoming NFL regular season.
The following list provides an update on how each of these past Bearcats student-athletes are performing in NFL preseason action.
WLB Connor Barwin (Houston Texans) 8/18/12 vs. San Francisco 49ers - Started at weak side linebacker and tallied two total tackles, ½ of a sack and two quarterback hurries in a 20-9 win.
WR Armon Binns (Cincinnati Bengals) 8/16/12 at Atlanta Falcons - Gained his first career NFL start and was targeted twice in a 24-19 win.
TE Brent Celek (Philadelphia Eagles) 8/20/12 at New England Patriots - Saw his first preseason action of the year with a start at tight end in a 27-17 win. Was targeted twice and had one reception, resulting in a 13-yard gain.
DE Trent Cole (Philadelphia Eagles) 8/20/12 at New England Patriots - Started at defensive end and tallied three total tackles, including two assisted tackles and one solo tackle, in a 27-17 win.
WR Mardy Gilyard (Philadelphia Eagles) 8/20/12 at New England Patriots - Caught two passes for 28 yards, with a long of 19 yards, and returned two punts for seven yards in a 27-17 win.
FB Ben Guidugli (St. Louis Rams) 8/18/12 vs. Kansas City Chiefs - Saw action in a 31-17 win.
WR Vidal Hazelton (Cincinnati Bengals) 8/16/12 at Atlanta Falcons - Recorded two receptions for nine yards in a 24-19 win.
P Kevin Huber (Cincinnati Bengals) 8/16/12 at Atlanta Falcons - Punted four times with a 48.3-yard average with a net average of 42 yards and a long of 53 yards in a 24-19 win.
DT John Hughes (Cleveland Browns) 8/16/12 at Green Bay Packers - Made his second start in as many preseason games at defensive tackle and recorded one tackle for loss in a 35-10 win.
C Jason Kelce (Philadelphia Eagles) 8/20/12 at New England Patriots - Started again at center in a 27-17 win.
OT Jeff Linkenbach (Indianapolis Colts) 8/19/12 at Pittsburgh Steelers - Saw action in a 26-24 loss.
DT Ricardo Mathews (Indianapolis Colts) 8/19/12 at Pittsburgh Steelers - Saw action in a 26-24 loss.
S Haruki Nakamura (Carolina Panthers) 8/17/12 vs. Miami Dolphins - Registered two total tackles in a 23-17 win.
RB Isaiah Pead (St. Louis Rams) 8/18/12 vs. Kansas City Chiefs - Rushed six times for negative five yards and recorded two receptions for negative three yards, but scored his first career NFL touchdown with a one-yard goal-line leap early in the third quarter. He also returned one punt for a one-yard gain in a 31-17 win.
TE Adrien Robinson (New York Giants) 8/18/12 at New York Jets - Was targeted once in a 26-3 win.
LB J.K. Schaffer (Jacksonville Jaguars) 8/17/12 at New Orleans Saints - Registered five total tackles, including a tackle for loss, in a 27-24 win. Schaffer leads the Jaguars with 12 tackles through two preseason games.
DE Monte Taylor (Philadelphia Eagles) 8/20/12 at New England Patriots - Totaled two tackles in a 27-17 win.
S Brandon Underwood (Oakland Raiders) 8/17/12 at Arizona Cardinals - Registered two total tackles and one pass defended in 31-27 loss.
LS Mike Windt (San Diego Chargers) 8/18/12 vs. Dallas Cowboys - Saw action in a 28-20 win.
DE Derek Wolfe (Denver Broncos) 8/18/12 vs. Seattle Seahawks - Gained his first career NFL start and recorded four total tackles, consisting of two assisted and two solo tackles, in a 30-10 loss.
WR D.J. Woods (Tennessee Titans) 8/17/12 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Notched his first career NFL reception, a 33-yard gain, and returned one punt for 15 yards in a 30-7 win.
