PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Cincinnati's Mackenzie Fields was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week after her performance at the 2013 Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by UC.

Fields finished first for the third straight week in the pole vault, recording a mark of 4.30m (14'1.25'') at the Nikoloff Invitational last weekend. The senior's vault tops the league and is ranked seventh nationally. Fields broke the Gettler Stadium and Cincinnati program records for the outdoor pole vault in the process.

Fields is joined by Connecticut sophomore Lauren Sara, who earned BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors and Notre Dame sophomore Chris Giesting, who was named BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Rutgers' James Plummer was tabbed BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

According to the NCAA, "qualification to the [NCAA] championships is based on the descending-order list for the season...for each individual event contested, the top 16 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition. For each relay contested, the top 12 relay teams will be accepted into the competition...There are no qualifying standards for the championships season."

Next up for UC is a trip to the All-Ohio Championships April 12-13 in Athens, Ohio.
