CINCINNATI - Sophomore midfielder Megan Bell (Baltimore, Md./Hereford) scored three in a 21-6 road loss Sunday afternoon to No. 5/6 Syracuse (9-3, 5-0).

The Orange scored 12 consecutive goals before Bell put the Bearcats on the scoreboard with 13 seconds remaining in the first half, putting the ball in the cage on a Courtney Curtis (Freshman/Mason, Ohio/Mason) assist.

Syracuse opened the second half scoring back-to-back goals, but Bell responded with back-to-back, unassisted goals of her own. After both teams scored another goal, the Orange took 6:03 to go on a 3-0 run and extend their lead to 18-4.

Katie Kiriazoglou (Senior/Abingdon, Md./John Carroll) would add one more goal for UC before Syracuse went on another 3-0 run. Marissa Pierson (Senior/Sykesville, Md./Century) scored the last goal of the game with 21 seconds to play as Syracuse defeated the Bearcats 21-6.

UC's freshman goalkeeper Meg Gulmi (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) played the first half and had 12 goals against her and four saves. Junior Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) saw the last 30 minutes in the cage and had 9 goals against her with four saves.

The Orange outshot the Bearcats 43-10, caused 12 UC turnovers and had 15 different players score.

The Bearcats controlled 13 draws, grabbed 16 ground balls and caused seven Orange turnovers. Bell finished with a team-high three goals.

UC returns to the turf Saturday, April 20 in a road contest against BIG EAST rival Louisville. Game time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
