GREENSBORO, N.C. -Josh Dangel placed eighth in the men's pole vault Thursday with a mark of 17'2.75" during the NCAA East Preliminary Round. His eighth place finish advances him to the finals in Eugene, Ore. June 5-8.
After passing the first two bar heights, Dangel cleared 16'6.75" on his third attempt. He then cleared the next three progressions, including 17'2.75" to advance to the finals.
Mary Bridges and Jessica Molyet were also in action Thursday, competing in the discus throw.
Bridges had a throw of 155'7" on her first attempt, but fouled on her second. She recovered with her best throw of the day, tossing the discus 159'11". Bridges maintained her position in 16th place to advance to the final throws, but was unable to crack the top 12 to advance to the finals in Eugene.
Molyet finished 34th in the discus as her best mark of the day was a toss of 146'11".
The Bearcats are back in action Friday as Mackenzie Fields and Alyssa McBride compete in the women's pole vault, while Dailyn Moore and Terrence Somerville race in the 110-meter hurdles and Erika Hurd battles in the high jump.
Frida Akerstrom (shot put), Emelie Larsson (javelin) and Michael Nwanko (triple jump) begin competition Saturday.

TICKET INFORMATION
All meet tickets for the 2013 NCAA Division I Track and Field East Preliminary Round are now on sale. Tickets are required each day of competition and all seats are general admission. Will call orders may be picked up at the Sullivan Street ticket booths beginning on Thursday, May 23. Tickets can be purchased by calling the A&T ticket office at (336) 334-7749. There will be no online purchasing.
