CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team suffered a 67-31 defeat at the hands of No. 3/2 Connecticut, Saturday in BIG EAST Conference action at Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati (8-11, 0-6 BIG EAST) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, hitting its first two shots after grabbing the opening tip, but Connecticut (18-1, 5-1 BIG EAST) responded by firing at a nearly 41-percent clip (15-of-37) from the field, including five triples, to lead 41-9 at the half.

Alyesha Lovett (Newak, N.J./Malcolm X Shabazz) led the scoring for the Bearcats, pouring in nine points, the fourth-straight game she has scored eight or more points. Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods/Michigan) had seven while Kayla Cook (South Wesbster, Ohio/South Webster) added six.

UConn's Stefanie Dolson led all players with 15 points. Breanna Stewart came off the bench to add 10 and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis' nine rebounds led all players.

The Bearcats struggled from the field all night, shooting 12.5 percent (3-of-24) from the floor in the first half and 20.4 percent (11-of-54) for the game.

The Huskies scored 32 of the 67 points in the paint and held a 14-6 advantage on the offensive glass, converting that into a 17-1 scoring advantage. Connecticut's four steals were a season low while the 67 points was its third-lowest of the 2012-13 campaign.
